From Someone Who Truly Loves Weddings
June 7th, 2026 | By Jay Patel (beatsbyjay)
There’s something about wedding ceremonies that always gets me.
Out of the entire wedding weekend — all the music, dancing, outfits, chaos, and celebrations — the ceremony is the one part that feels completely still. Real. Honest.
It’s the moment where everything finally slows down.
After being part of so many weddings over the years, here are a few things I genuinely think couples should remember going into their ceremony day.
Not from a vendor perspective. Not from a checklist perspective. Just from someone who truly loves weddings and seeing people happy.

1. Slow Down More Than You Think
Seriously.
Walk slower down the aisle. Pause longer during the vows. Take the extra second to look around.
The ceremony goes by so fast when you’re in it.
And years from now, you won’t remember:
the exact timeline
what song played at minute 12
or whether things were “perfect”
You’ll remember the feeling.
2. Don’t Forget Your Parents <3
One thing I notice a lot: the day moves so quickly that couples barely get real moments with their parents.
Take a second before the ceremony starts.Hug them. Talk to them. Thank them.
Your parents are living a huge moment too.
Some of the most emotional things I’ve ever witnessed at weddings had nothing to do with the crowd — just quiet moments between family.
3. Your Ceremony Music Should Feel Like You
Don’t overthink what’s trendy.
Pick songs that:
calm you down
mean something to you
remind you of a memory
feel natural
The best ceremonies always feel personal.
4. Be Present...Live in the Moment
This is probably the biggest one.
Don’t spend your ceremony:
worrying about guests
stressing over details
thinking about the reception
wondering if everything is running on time
Just be there.
The real beauty of weddings is when couples actually live the moment instead of trying to control it.
5. The Small Moments Become the Big Ones
It’s funny…
Sometimes the moments nobody planned become the moments everyone remembers:
your dad getting emotional
your partner laughing during vows
someone saying the wrong thing and everybody cracking up
the wind hitting perfectly during sunset
That’s the magic. Not perfection. Just real life happening.
Final Thought
At the end of the day, your ceremony isn’t a production.
It’s the start of your life together.
Everything else — the flowers, timeline, decor, little details — eventually fades.
But the feeling of standing there with your favorite person in front of everyone you love?
That stays forever. And honestly… that’s why I love weddings so much.
