This year, July 4th meant something different. Not just a holiday. Not just fireworks. But, my personal declaration of freedom.

I officially walked away from my full-time corporate tech job @ AT&T. No more clocking in. No more backup plan. Just me, my purpose, and what I’ve been building since I was 19. It wasn't about the money...it was about the purpose I had for the experiences I wanted to create. @ 24 years old, I walked away from 6-figures to live out a dream I never thought I could make career out of.

For real. I left corporate. Walked away from the BS. I’m finally doing what I’ve been building quietly for years — I’m going all in on being a Luxury Wedding & Private Event DJ/MC Full-Time.

No more “balancing both.” No more half in, half out. Now it’s all me. All in.

My Decision & Why I Left...

I didn’t leave my job to be a DJ. I left because I believed in myself — before anyone else did.

I saw the vision. I felt the momentum. I knew if I didn’t go now, I’d be betraying something real inside me. Nobody is going to chase your dreams for you. No one’s going to push your potential for you. And definitely no one’s going to execute your goals for you. That’s on you. And I was ready to take it on.

I didn’t leave because I hated my job. I left because I loved something else more.

Every time I DJ’d, edited, traveled, or performed, I felt more alive than anything I did behind a desk. Nothing made me feel more me than DJing. Performing. Creating. Connecting.

Running my business solo these past few years — from bookings to content, from travel to tech — has been the most rewarding challenge of my life. It never felt like work.

It got to the point where one side of my life started to take over — and I let it. On purpose.

And trust me… making that decision wasn’t easy. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

It wasn’t about walking away from something — It was about walking toward something that actually makes me feel alive. Every moment — even the chaotic ones — shaped this move. The decision was back n' forth. Leaving something stable is never smooth. But I knew deep down: the moment I started giving my all to this dream, everything will change.

I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing people in corporate. People who shaped me and helped me grow. I’m grateful for that. But the truth is… I was living two lives. And eventually one of them started to take over — The one with the weddings, the new people, the music, the travel, the content, the late nights, the joy. That was the real me.

From Side Hustle to Global Vision (Brand Building)

My brand — beatsbyjay — isn’t just "DJing". It’s experiences. It’s connection. It’s energy you can’t fake. I manage every single part of my brand — from the inquiries to the crates to the crowd. I give couples, families, and hosts my all — and they feel it. The energy I bring to every event isn’t something you can teach. It’s what sets me free. And the fact that it’s now my full-time focus? That’s real freedom.

I’m building a brand, a business, a lifestyle. Something I can stand on. Something that feels like me — everywhere I go.

My goal isn’t just to DJ/MC. My goal is to create experiences. To travel the world. To document the energy. To connect with people through moments that matter. I want to change the game, not just play in it.

Bigger Than Music | What’s Next?

I want to create change. Not just through sound, but through the network I’ve built. The community. The energy. The moments. My real net worth? It became my network. And through that, I’ve met some of the most creative, driven, and inspiring people on Earth.

Realizing my real net worth isn’t money, it’s my network early on has helped me really gauge and understand what I want & who to involve myself with. It’s the people I’ve met. The connections I’ve built. The rooms I’ve entered and the energy I’ve carried into them.

That’s what’s priceless. And that’s what I’m chasing more of — not comfort, not safety, but impact.

Now I answer to myself. Now I work with people who match my flow. Now I perform at weddings and events in the most beautiful places on Earth — for the dopest couples and crowds.

This is Day 1. To infinity. To the takeovers. To the recaps. To the content that’s only going to get crazier. To never having to walk into an office again that isn’t mine.

Travel. More weddings. & even More content.
